First Encounter with An Actual Alien?

Around 9 a.m., I heard a huge crash-landing sound in my backyard. Naturally, I went to investigate and came across an alien-looking creature. Below is an illustration of what it looked like.

It was small, easily fitting in my palm, and moved using its tiny roots. Its body seems entirely metallic with glowing green crystals protruding from its sides. Flowers made of shadows were growing on top of it.

I could not believe my own eyes when I encountered this creature. I wanted to better understand it, but I had to rush to work.

Strange Behaviour of The Alien

It's been a week since I last saw the alien, but I finally spotted it in my garden today. It seems to have planted itself among my other flowers. I tried to pull it out, but it refused to budge. Standing over it, I was figuring out different methods of removing it. 

That was when something strange happened. My shadow cast over it, turning its crystal to dull grey causing its shadow flower to slowly fade away. As it slowly moved away from my shadow into the sunlight, its crystal turned back to green and the shadow flower slowly formed again. From this observation, I think the crystal functions similarly to chlorophyll in plants, converting sunlight into energy for the shadow flower.

Since it is causing me and my flower no harm, I decided to just let it stay around in my garden. To be honest, the shadow flower seems to be a nice addition to my flower collections.

Neglecting the Alien

I went on a business trip and came home to an absolute disaster. My garden had withered away as if their life force had been drained. Unsurprisingly, the main suspect was the alien, which seems to have evolved since the last time I saw it.

Securing itself firmly on the ground, it now stands as tall as me. The shadow flower now appears to be that of a shadow lotus. The chlorophyll crystal seems to have grown bigger and darker as well. The alien's body now seemed less metallic and more like a strange pulsating flesh.

Not knowing what to do, I contacted the authorities to have the experts handle it instead of me, who is just a regular office worker.

Tragedy

My house is now under quarantine, and I am currently staying over at another colleague's home. I am filled with regret because of my inaction.

I should've never let it grow to this size in the first place. I should've alerted the authorities the day I first encountered this monster of an alien. The alien, now known as the Flower of Chaos, had taken the lives of several researchers and many officers on site.

The alien induced a new type of wave, now dubbed as "Sigma Wave", that could directly manipulate the human mind to either enter a state of madness or submission. The officers unfortunately turned mad and started brawling each other to the death. The researchers, on the other hand, were consumed by the alien through submission.

This incident gave us one key insight, it only consumes those with higher intelligence, while manipulating the less intelligent into fighting each other.

As of now, the government is putting in massive efforts in countering the Flower of Chaos.

12th May 2024

Goodbye alien

Recalling my earliest interaction with the alien, the government suspects that the Flower of Chaos could not operate without sufficient sunlight or anything related to a certain spectrum of waves.

Keeping this theory in mind, the government gathered a group of the best physicists across the globe to develop a colossal Faraday cage. The Faraday cage aims to block any incoming or outgoing sunlight and waves.

By this point, the Flower of Chaos had grown so rapidly that its Sigma Wave range had reached several cities. It grew to the size of a skyscraper and many residents were forced to evacuate to neighbouring cities. But that is no longer a problem because Operation "Alien Cage" was executed.

When the Faraday cage was first deployed, the alien tried to move its way out of the cage. Anticipating that the alien might try to escape, the cage was designed to track and move with it, ensuring it remained trapped.

Soon enough, the alien started to wither, its lotus faded away, and its crystal turned grey. Keeping the operation ongoing for 3 days, the alien had completely stopped moving. The operation was announced as a success after the alien was lying motionless for 3 hours.

Aftermath

The alien was thoroughly studied by scientists all over the world, and it was confirmed that the Flower of Chaos was a unique lifeform of unknown origin. The anatomy of the alien revealed how the muscle fibres inside the flesh of the body were able to vibrate at an atomic level, generating Sigma Waves.

The Sigma Waves were replicated soon after stimulating the dead flesh of the alien, and there seems to be a type of Sigma Waves that induces positive feelings as well. This was a huge breakthrough for medicine and science, and I somehow was given the title "Father of Sigma Wave".

Nowadays, I sometimes find myself questioning if I were to kill the Flower of Chaos before it matured, would we have discovered Sigma Wave?
